My Top Bridal Tips

Hey Gals ,

I have just been thinking about some bridal tips for you lovely ladies and thought I would share them with you.

Good Make up starts with good skin....

Looking after your skin in the run up to your wedding (and in general too) is a big fat must ! Cleansing, toning and moisturising are the basic tools in loving your skin.

Get into the habit of taking off your Make Up EVERY night, no matter what kind of a state you might be in !!!! Using a good eye cream will ensure your eyes are well prepared for our good friend concealer. In relation to facials before your wedding, my opinion would be to have your last one no later than 2-3 weeks before the big day to ensure your skin doesn't have any unnecessary breakouts.

Exfoliate your skin 1-2 times a week to remove dead skin cells which will allow Make Up to be more even when applied. Using a serum day and night will  give an extra boost to the skin, sure we all love a good boost ! Water is our best friend, drink plenty to flush out those toxins.

If you have any special skin conditions or are seeing a dermatologist, stick to your skin care plan and do what works best for your skin.

Trial....

If you can, book a trial with your Make Up Artist 1-2 months before your big day. I always ask my clients to have a few pictures of Make Up styles that they like. This helps ensure that you are both on the same page in relation to what make up you love and feel comfortable with. If you have a look or colours in mind before you start the trial, be sure to voice this to your Make Up Artist, it's not much good after :)

Tanning....

Although I myself do spray tans for my clients and think that they give a gorgeous healthy glow to the skin, I do have a pet peeve.....For a bride to have a bad spray tan. Please please please don't go too dark with your tan for your wedding day. I have seen this too many times where a bride has gone a few shades too dark. In my experience, matching a foundation with a tan that is too dark can be a bit of a task. You can end up looking like you have been tangoed and lets face it, that's never a good look !! Be confident in your own beautiful skin and try to look as much like you as possible.

Having a trial tan a day or two before your make up trial is also a good idea so you can see the whole look together.

Be open to new Make Up looks....

Go for something slightly more that you were thinking. Flash photography being a huge part of your wedding day, you really need to take into account how this will affect how your Make Up will look in photos. The flash can "suck" a lot of the the colour out of your face, so perhaps think about going for a more vibrant eye and lip than you had in mind so you don't end up looking washed out in your wedding photos.

It's the little things....

There are some thing that might not even come to mind when thinking about bridal beauty. A few that come to my mind are :
  • Beautiful Brows....Take the time to grow out your brows and get them professionally shaped. A good shaped brow makes a HUGE difference as they frame the face. Brows are definitely a game changer when it comes to make up.
  • Kissable Lips.... Don't forget to moisturise and even exfoliate your lips. Keep a lip balm beside your bed and in your handbag for that perfect pout.
  • Pick Up a lippy/lipgloss and give to your bridesmaid to top up with throughout your wedding day.

I hope this has been at least a tiny bit helpful for you beautiful brides. My thoughts are a jumble but I do hope you picked up a tip or two :)

P.s. These are just a collection of my thoughts. If any of you have special requirements for your skin, be sure to get a good skincare regime from your dermatologist.
